An exceptional and substantial pair of antique Victorian oak candlesticks, standing at an impressive 53cm (21 inches) tall. These feature the highly desirable "Open Barley Twist" design, where the central core is hollowed out—a difficult feat for a woodturner on this scale. Crafted from solid oak with a deep, rich "Tudor" style finish. These are likely altar or floor-standing candlesticks from a large estate or church. They show authentic age-related wear (patina) and original lathe marks on the bases. Note: These feature traditional carved wooden sockets without metal liners, typical of early ecclesiastical designs.
