RIC VI Treveri 752

**EXTREMELY RARE DENOMINATION**

This specimen is of the utmost rarity, rated R5 in RIC which rarity rating is correct in this case; known as a ‘quinarius’ or 1/8th follis, this issue is much smaller than the quarter-folli types issued earlier in the 4th Century and named for the ancient Republican Era denomination; OCRE lists just 3 known specimens with auction archives adding just 2 more, sold by CNG, Electronic Auction 398, Lot 582, on 5/31/2017, incorrectly attributed to the 1st reign, and noted as ‘Rare’ by CNG;  this type was issued only in the summer of AD 307 according to the auction write up issued by CNG for Lot 1702 of Electronic Auction 90, 5/23/2012, more than a decade ago; this is a lower grade example of this rare type that does not come up for sale very often at all; from a lot of coins with exquisitely handwritten tags from a 20th Century collector, included with this coin as well

All coins are authentic and from my own personal collection. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Over the coming weeks I will be adding more fixed price listings of Late Roman Bronze Coins so please check back with me.

If there is any specific type you are looking for let me know. I have an extensive Late Antique collection with AE and some AR issues dating from the mid 3rd Century AD to the 8th Century AD
