Rare promotional poster for The Blessed, an influential "underage" punk band from the first wave of the New York City scene in the late 1970s. Known for their frequent gigs at legendary venues like CBGB and Max's Kansas City, the band was a staple of the city's teen punk movement.
Band Members
The classic lineup featured in this era included:
Billy Stark: Lead Vocals
Howie Pyro: Bass (later a member of D Generation and Danzig)
Brad Barnett: Drums
Walter Lure: Guitar (also a member of Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers)
Formed in NYC in 1977.
Their most famous recorded work is the 1979 7" single featuring the tracks "Deep Frenzy" and "American Bandstand".
Despite never releasing a full LP during their initial run, they are remembered as one of the "sloppiest and most fashionable" groups of the early scene.
