ABOUT THE ARTIST
ELIZABETH OSBORNE was born June 5, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA. and has been actively painting for over sixty years, with a distinguished career from the 1960’s to the present. She is especially noted for her luminous renderings in oil and watercolor that blend color and light with that of nature’s changing conditions. A leading figure of postwar art in Philadelphia, she has traveled widely throughout Europe, the American Southwest, Mexico, and the Atlantic Coast from Maryland to Maine, where she lives today.
Osborne attended classes at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1959 for her undergraduate studies. After graduation Osborne was granted a Fulbright scholarship and traveled to Paris to study art for a year.
Her work is in numerous public collections including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the McNay Art Museum, the Reading Art Museum, the Delaware Art Museum, the Wood-mere Art Museum, and the Palmer Museum of Art.
