 Only tested (pharmacy) Sideritis Scardica is used here, this is important because in Greece several Siderites species are used for this purpose, such as Sideritis scardica, aeseri, athoa, 
 That's why you often get different varieties sold under the same name, but the aromatic, full-bodied taste is quite similar. In Crete, a subspecies, Sideritis syriaca, is often used, also mixed with diptam and called malotiri.
 There is also the European verbena, the true verbena, and the South American verbena, the fragrant verbena, which, however, are completely different species. You are also welcome to call us for advice, as common names can be confusing.
