Antique Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Dish, Lion Motif, "Fu" Mark
Dimension: 5.25 inches (13.33cm)
Description
Offered for sale is an antique Chinese porcelain dish, dating to the Ming Dynasty, 15th–16th century. This is a fine example of folk kiln blue and white porcelain from the mid-Ming period.
The dish features a central, freely painted lion motif, a traditional symbol of power, good fortune, and high official rank ("Taishi Shaoshi"). The exterior is decorated with delicate scrolling floral patterns. The base bears a single blue character "Fu" (福), meaning "blessing" or "good fortune". The glaze is a soft, pale celadon white, and the blue decoration uses domestic cobalt pigments, resulting in a muted, elegant blue with natural ink-wash effects.
Condition
Good antique condition with a minor chip on the rim, as clearly shown in the photos. No significant cracks, repairs, or major damage. The colors remain vibrant, and the glaze retains a beautiful luster.
A charming and authentic piece of Ming Dynasty folk art, perfect for collection or display.
