1/8" NPT 90-DEGREE STREET ELBOW - MALE TO FEMALE - 304 STAINLESS STEEL - GAUGE SENDER ADAPTER
Solve tight-space installation problems with this precision-machined 1/8" NPT 90-degree street elbow. This robust male-to-female adapter is engineered to create a perfect right-angle connection, making it the ideal solution for mounting oil pressure sensors, temperature senders, gauges, and switches where direct clearance is an issue. Made from corrosion-resistant 304 Stainless Steel for superior performance in demanding automotive, marine, and industrial environments.
KEY FEATURES & TECHNICAL SPECS:
THREAD SIZE & TYPE: 1/8" NPT (National Pipe Tapered). Standard thread for most American-made gauges, sensors, and fittings.
CONFIGURATION: Male x Female 90-Degree Elbow (Street Elbow). One end has external (male) threads, the other end has internal (female) threads, bent at a 90-degree angle.
MATERIAL: Grade 304 (A2) Stainless Steel. Offers excellent resistance to corrosion, heat, and most chemicals. Far superior to brass or plated steel in harsh conditions.
PRESSURE RATING: Suitable for high-pressure systems. Typically rated for working pressures exceeding 1000+ PSI for oil and fuel, making it ideal for performance engines.
TEMPERATURE RATING: Withstands high under-hood and exhaust manifold temperatures without degrading.
SEALING METHOD: Requires thread sealant. The tapered NPT threads form a seal by wedging together. You MUST use a high-quality thread sealant (e.g., PTFE tape, liquid pipe sealant, or anaerobic sealant) rated for your fluid (oil, fuel, coolant).
PRIMARY APPLICATION – THE PERFECT OIL PRESSURE SENDER ADAPTER:
Clearing Obstructions: The #1 use is to relocate an oil pressure sender unit or sensor away from exhaust manifolds, engine blocks, or other components that prevent a straight installation.
Gauge & Sensor Mounting: Creates a secure, angled port for aftermarket gauges (oil pressure, fuel pressure, water temp) and factory warning light sensors.
Clean Installation: Routes sensor wiring or capillary tubes neatly along engine contours, away from heat and moving parts.
ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS:
Fuel Systems: Angled fittings for pressure gauges or fuel lines in tight spaces.
Coolant Systems: Mounting temperature sensors or bleed ports.
Pneumatic & Air Systems: High-pressure air lines for tools or compressors.
Hydraulic Lines: Low to medium-pressure hydraulic gauge installations.
General Industrial Plumbing: Any application requiring a durable, sealed 90-degree connection in 1/8" NPT.
WHAT'S INCLUDED:
1 x 1/8" NPT 90-Degree Street Elbow, made from 304 Stainless Steel.
PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION GUIDE – CRITICAL FOR NO LEAKS:
CLEAN THREADS: Remove all dirt, oil, and old sealant from both the adapter's threads and the threads of the port you're installing it into.
APPLY SEALANT:
PTFE Tape: Wrap the MALE threads 4-6 times clockwise (looking from the end of the fitting). Do not cover the first thread. For fuel/oil, use PTFE tape rated for hydrocarbons (often yellow or pink).
Liquid/Paste Sealant: Apply a moderate amount to the male threads. Use a sealant compatible with your fluid (e.g., Loctite 545, Permatex High-Temp Thread Sealant).
INSTALLATION: First, screw the MALE end of this elbow into your engine block, oil filter sandwich plate, or remote mount. Tighten firmly using a wrench—typically 1.5 to 2 turns past finger-tight for NPT. Do not overtighten, as this can crack aluminum housings.
SECOND CONNECTION: Once the elbow is securely installed, apply sealant to your sensor or gauge's male threads and screw it into the FEMALE end of this elbow. Tighten snugly.
PRESSURE TEST: After installation and before full operation, start the engine and carefully check for leaks at both connections. Re-tighten slightly if necessary.
COMPATIBILITY & WARNINGS:
Compatible with all standard 1/8" NPT sensors, gauges, and switches.
NOT compatible with BSP threads. 1/8" NPT (27 threads per inch) is different from 1/8" BSP (28 TPI). Forcing the wrong thread will damage both the adapter and your equipment.
Always use sealant. NPT threads are designed to seal with the aid of a sealant; they will leak if installed dry.
Check for clearance. Ensure the final orientation of the elbow provides full clearance for the sensor/wiring.
