TISSOT MARTINI RACING MENS SWISS WATCH CHRONO ALFA,PORSCHE,FORD CAL.251 SAPPHIRE


Anyone with an interest in motor sport over the last 50 years will be familiar with the colourful livery of the Italian beverage company Martini and Rossi. As dedicated sponsors of many successful teams, such as Porsche in endurance racing, Lancia Corse in endurance racing and rallying, Alfa Romeo in Italian touring car racing, Ford in WRC and Williams in F1 to name a few, the distinctive colours of the company provided teams with a flamboyant, dynamic livery, while the company's financial backing ensured the teams were practically unbeatable. 
As a measure of Martini's involvement with racing, the famed Swiss company Tissot were approached to produce a wristwatch to celebrate and advertise that dedication. The result was a chronograph with a cutting edge quartz powered movement in an asymmetric stainless steel case. 

This movement was the ETA 251.262, recognized as one of the finest chronograph movements and used by several other Swiss watch makers including TAG Heuer in their Link, Aquaracer and F1 series (ref.1110/1/2), Omega in the Seamaster Polaris (as the Omega cal.1675) and the Longines Sportwing (as cal. 541.2). 
Introduced in 1988 and available with a black or white dial with contrasting subdials and black or tan leather straps, the tie in coincided with Lancia's continuing dominance of the Group A WRC, the cars appearing in the advertising. 
A superb motorsport inspired chronograph and in excellent condition throughout . The all stainless steel, polished case shows little signs of use, with an unmarked sapphire crystal and nice original strap with Tissot signed buckle. The dial sports Martini's colours in a subtle stripe, while the case sports an equally subtle Martini Racing embossing. 
a unique combination. A date window is provided at the 4 o'clock position. 
A new battery has been fitted to ensure reliable service.
