Ukrainian “Bavovna.” The Magura Unmanned Surface Vessel  in souvenir packaging

Nominal: 5 uah
Circulation start date: 12.12.2025
Material: german silver
Description:
This coin celebrates a Ukrainian innovative development that has fundamentally changed the tactics of warfare in the Black Sea. Thanks to operations conducted by the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, these vessels have destroyed a number of ships belonging to the russian Black Sea Fleet and, for the first time in history, successfully struck aerial targets: Mi-8 helicopters and Su-30 fighter jets. The coin immortalizes the engineering mastery of the MAGURA’s Ukrainian developers and the combat valor of Ukraine’s soldiers, who have transformed these naval drones into one of the most effective weapons in this war.
Obverse: against a matte background, is a stylized image of Magura – a character from early Slavic mythology, a bird-woman with spread wings, holding a sword and a shield. She embodies Mother Glory and Perunytsia – the goddess of war, victory, and eternal life, and the patroness of the Slavic-Rus army. On Magura’s shield is Ukraine’s small state coat-of-arms. Above are the legend УКРАЇНА (Ukraine), the coin’s face value 5, the graphic symbol of the hryvnia, and the coin’s issue year – 2025. Beneath, to the left, is the mint mark of the NBU’s Banknote Printing and Minting Works.
Reverse: there is a stylized MAGURA unmanned surface vessel moving swiftly across the waves, demonstrating dynamic motion and precision. In the upper part of the composition is a scene showing the destruction of a Su-30 fighter jet, with elements of fire and explosion, symbolizing the effective counteraction against the invaders both at sea and in the air. Below is the emblem of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, emphasizing the exclusive use of these naval drones by the Group 13 unit. The legend MAGURA is rendered in the style of the manufacturer’s logo, underscoring the authenticity, national pride, and recognition of the achievements of the Ukrainian defense sector.
