Dolce & Gabbana turns black tulle into something controlled rather than ethereal here. Dense horizontal ruching draws the fabric tightly around the body, while the sweetheart neckline, defined cups and internal corset construction give the narrow midi silhouette its discipline. Lace is kept to the bodice and hem, framing bare shoulders and finishing the pencil line without softening its severity. That tension is what makes the dress work: lingerie detail, but with the composure of a sharply cut black sheath.
Resist making it conventionally romantic. A pointed pump or minimal slingback, small earrings and an unadorned neckline will let the construction do the work; the lace should remain the only ornament. The visible cup architecture and corseted tulle also make this a strong archival match for the current return of innerwear-inspired dressing and corseted romance.
