For sale a nice restored YAESU FT-290R

It comes with a handheld microphone (YM-49) and a DC power cord (approximately 1m long).

The cover has some scratches and paint chips (especially around the edges), please see pictures.

The antenna is not bent and works perfectly.

This unit has been restored and comes with a spurious verification guarantee by a Japanese technician.

This is the service performed on this radio;

- The microphone was disassembled, cleaned and rust removed.

- Cleaned the exterior and interior, front and rear panels, covers, side panels, and knobs, polished the internal mounting hardware.  

-The body cover fixing screws were replaced with new ones (stainless steel).   

-The protective transparent tube for the connector was replaced with a new one due to deterioration .

-The internal cushions on the double-sided cover were sticky and worn out, so they were removed and   replaced with urethane foam after cleaning .

- New exterior screws were replaced on the speaker mounting, side panel and new stainless steel fixing.

- The LCD was leaking and replaced.

- The lighting was changed to LED (warm white).

- Silicon heat dissipation for the power transistors was reapplied. Parts were replaced to prevent defects, deterioration, and other issues.   

- All 53 electrolytic capacitors were REPLACED with new ones.

- A bypass capacitor was missing from the power input, so an additional one was installed (16V 1000μF).

- Faulty external speaker jack replaced with a good one and faulty DC input jack replaced with a good one with two diodes added.

-Faulty S-meter replaced with a good one and pointer repainted.

- RF AMP FET jumper wired to GND to improve reception sensitivity.

- Backup battery holder changed with a new battery installed.

- Insulating sheets applied to both electrodes of the internal battery holder.

- Frequency adjustments, transmit/output adjustments, receive adjustments using SSG input, operation checks , readjustments, etc. Adjustments and operation checks were performed after approximately one hour of power-on.

- Operation checks were also performed approximately two hours after power-on, and at regular intervals.

- Current Operation Check : Transmit output was adjusted to approximately 2.5W Hi: and 0.5W Lo: at 145.00MHz FM using a terminated power meter [RW-151D].

- FM, SSB, and CW transmission and reception checked - modulation/demodulation by comparing it with other devices [FT-857D] on a desk, and all the switches worked fine.

- It can also be used with batteries installed in the built-in battery holder.
