Vintage Fragonard Romantic Love Story Scenes Porcelain Lot of 3 Plates, NC,  Bavaria.

The lot Consists: one larger plate 11.5" diameter,

                            two plates 7.5" diameter  

All plates are in excellent condition

Bavarian china is a porcelain often decorated with hand painted patterns, soft colors and gold gilt highlighting.  The courting couple were inspired by the work of French Artist Jean Honore Fragonard who was born at Grasse, a French painter in the Rococo style which was popular in the last half of the 18th Century. He painted popular images of aristocratic courting couples on leisurely outings.  The French Revolution ended many of the Rococo painters but the Fragonard Courting Couple images were revived in the late Victorian area.  This decorative plate embodies the romance of both eras.  It features lovely hand painted couples falling in love and exquisite hand painted gold designs.  Please see photos for details.
