On offer, we have an original watercolor painting by American artist Loren Barton. It is signed in pencil by the artist on the lower right and titled on the left. "Dream Of Santa" is a fantasy of wonderful dreams to enjoy all year around. On thick textured paper, this measures 11" X 8 1/2" with the image 6 1/2" X 5 1/2". About the artist: "Loren Roberta Barton (1893-1975) was born in Oxford, MA in the home of her great-aunt Clara Barton, founder of the Red Cross. Loren came to Los Angeles with her family as a child and received her art training at USC and the ASL of Los Angeles under William Lees Judson and Rex Slinkard. While in Europe in 1929, she met Perez Babcock whom she married. The couple lived in Rome until 1937 and then returned to Los Angeles where she taught at the Chouinard School of Art. She illustrated the books, Spanish Alta California and California in 1938." (askart)
This is in excellent condition. The painting is bright, bold, clean and clear. There is a faint shadow of toning around the painting. Ms. Barton left a bit of red paint on the top margin. The back has tape from when this was once framed or matted. As I am not an expert on art, please view my photographs for more description. This is from my friend who is moving to a much smaller home and parting with some of her treasures.
I will be happy to answer any questions and, of course, combine your shipping.
