This flagship camera shows why Sony is the industry standard. The PXW-FS7 4K Super 35 is as future-proof as you can find in a camera today, and it boasts an ergonomic design that fits comfortably on a tripod and on your shoulder. This camera is far more reliable than anything Blackmagic has to offer and, unlike the Canon C series’ DSLR/camcorder hybrids, it truly looks like a video camera.

The only major downside is that you need a bulky XCDA unit and recorder to capture 4K RAW. The XDCA makes the camera even longer and heavier, and it requires the use of V-mount or gold-mount batteries, which are included in this kit. This splits your battery needs into at least two camps and makes the camera even more unwieldy. One the other side, some people prefer using the XDCA to balance out a front-heavy kit and like the increased battery life. Pick your poison.

This has been a workhorse for us and has never disappointed. Hours logged: 970. Our production studio no longer needs it, as we've got a collection of FX6's and an FX3 that we rely on.
