Description This book, "The Flaming Torchbearers" is much more relevant and timely as a spiritual memento and a looking mirror for every minister of the Gospel and Christians as a whole, especially, those who aspire to know something about the past heroes within the Pentecostal circle; those who served the Lord purposefully and selflessly for the expansion of the Gospel in our nation, Nigeria and beyond.The project is a thorough research of the biographies of some of the prominent figures within the Pentecostal fold in Nigeria majority of those who have joined the Church Triumphant while few of them are still alive leading the regiment of the Militant Church to possess more territories from the kingdom of darkness. I strongly believe that if this book is sincerely read and perused with an open heart, it will re-direct and even safeguard the present crops of ministers of God from avoidable spiritual potholes and wrong emphasis in ministry. This corroborates God's message to the nation Israel in the book of Jeremiah chapter 6 verse 16 as follow: "Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in theways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, andwalk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls."In appreciation of this noble effort undertaken by Brother John Farounbi, I heartily encourage you as a reader to allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you in person so as to differentiate between the genuinemove of God and the 'mixed loud shouts' in the time of Ezra as it is obtained these days (Ezra 3:12,13).A careful and thoughtful study of the biographies in this book with sincere application of the lessons learnt from it will meet God's expectation for giving this noble assignment and providing the materials to the author with the aim of sensitizing the entire Body ofChrist to live a more purposeful, Christ-centred and sacrificial life in readiness for the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
