Desde muy pequeña demostró su afición a la lectura, el inglés y la pintura. Tras un año de deambular de médico en médico, aquejada de diversas dolencias, es diagnosticada de VIH en 2010.
Valerosamente, en septiembre de 2013, decide hacer pública su condición causando revuelo y generando un nuevo enfoque sobre esta enfermedad. Desde entonces Carolina, con gran generosidad y conciencia social, trabaja en diversos proyectos audiovisuales y realizando charlas en diversos lugares de Chile y el mundo con el fin de promover la prevención del VIH.
