The Lone Star Stereo VIP ACRYLIC turntable platform base is constructed of 1.5" or 2" Acrylic, which is used by several turntable manufactures for the plinth and even the platter because of its acoustically neutral properties.

MDF

The Lone Star Stereo VIP MDF turntable platform base is constructed of MDF, which is used by several turntable manufactures for the plinth and even the platter because of its acoustically neutral properties.  This Deluxe platform is 2.25" thick with a lead shot center core and much greater mass to further absorb vibrations. Our most popular model.  Choice of Walnut Veneer or Spray on Rubber Coating.

The feet are pure Sorbothane, which will isolate up to 94.7% of acoustic vibration from the surface where your turntable is placed.

The key to absorbing vibrations is the Sorbothane feet. Sorbothane is a highly damped, visco-elastic polymeric solid that displaces like a liquid under load.

"Under load" is the key phrase. The correct size and density for a given load is most important. Too heavy a load and it will not perform, too light, and it will not work.

The isolation improvements are astounding. Descriptions like “improved sound stage, imaging, localization of instruments, and improved bass” are some of the most significant results.
