genuine Rover oil pump drive shaft and gear assembly for the oil pump on late RoverP4 and P5 models and also all Series Land Rovers with the 2.6 Litre 6 cylinder engine. The original part number was 515989, but this superseded to 598214.
This is the assembly with the phosphor bronze type gear which was used from a point in time in 1961, With regard to the P4, it fits Rover 100 models from car numbered 650100304 onwards, and all Rover 95 and 110 models. With regard to the P5 3 Litre it fits engines numbered from 625100018, 626100170, 627100026, 628100017, 630100139 and 631100056. After these change points for P4 and P5 the engines used a phosphor-bronze drive gear (rather than the steel type used previously) which matched a revised version of the camshaft, so although the old and new types of the gear were dimensionally identical they are not interchangeable because of incompatibility with the materials used for the gear and the camshaft. All 6 cylinder 2.6 litre Series Land Rovers used this later type of shaft and gear assembly
