Although condition on this bat is rough it is weathered, dry and split it is a beautiful primitive piece of baseball or softball history.  Folk art maybe, but also could have been a child's toy. This is great piece of visual age and tells a story with its look.  Could be a railroad brakes man club, but I think baseball.   This is in found patina but could be lovingly hydrated and made to gleam.
