An Easy to Use Push Button Quick Release For 5-Bolt Steering Wheels

No one ever said getting into or out of a race car when fully suited up with a HANS, helmet, and other safety gear is easy. A popular option for decades in helping with said ingress/egress procedures has been a removable steering wheel by way of a quick release hub mechanism. Once seated and harnesses buckled it is simply a matter of grabbing your steering wheel off your Shop Steering Wheel/Helmet Hooks nearby and slipping it onto the steering shaft to lock it into place. The one issue many had with a quick release steering wheel was misplacing the quick release pin that retains the quick release hub. Without the pin to reinstall the wheel it is not secured to the steering shaft. The answer to this issue is a quick release hub with a self-contained push button release.

Our 5-bolt steering wheel quick release hubs are made from CNC machined billet aluminum and then black anodized for a tough, long lasting finish. The self-contained spring loaded quick release mechanism makes for fast removal or installation of your race car’s steering wheel and can be positioned for left or right side release. This design eliminates the fear of losing the standard quick release hub retaining pin that must normally be required to be manually removed before the steering wheel can be removed. The 5-bolt steering wheel pattern fits standard 5 on 72mm bolt spacing Shop 5-Bolt Steering Wheels that are popular for use in motorsports and the holes are threaded 1/4-20 (steering wheel mounting fasteners not included).

Included with our billet aluminum quick release hub is a steel 3/4-inch 19-spline stub that requires welding to your 3/4-inch diameter steering shaft used in your race car’s steering system. We also offer our billet quick release 5-bolt hubs in 5/8-inch hex, 5/8-inch-19 splined, and 3/4-inch hex to fit just about any racing oriented steering shaft on the market.

Note: These 5-bolt steering wheel quick release hubs are for off-road/motorsports use only and a quick release steering wheel is not for use on public roadways.
