Bereits 1954 nahm Gretsch den umtriebigen Musiker unter Vertrag - ein Glücksgriff für das New Yorker Traditionsunternehmen. Ähnlich wie zuvor Les Paul bei Gibson war Atkins nicht nur Namensgeber. Er hatte auch bei der Entwicklung dieser Instrumente großen Einfluss auf die Konstruktionsdetails, und es entstanden einige Gitarren-Ikonen des Country und Rock 'n' Roll.

Ein solcher Klassiker ist auch dieses Nashville-Modell aus dem Jahr 1966, das eine bewegte Geschichte hinter sich hat: Als der Vorbesitzer sie Ende der 1990er Jahre erwarb, war die Gitarre zuvor bereits mit nicht originalen Teilen (Pickups, Saitenhalter...) verfremdet worden. Der neue Eigentümer ließ sie später vom renommierten Münchner Gitarrenbauer André Waldenmaier komplett restaurieren und wieder in den jetzigen Originalzustand versetzen, und dann von einem Redakteur der Zeitschrift "Gitarre & Bass" begutachten. Eine (anonymisierte) Kopie des damaligen Mailverkehrs, zwei "vorher/nachher" Bilder sowie zwei Ausgaben der Zeitschrift, in denen diese Gitarre erwähnt wird, liegen bei.

Bestückt mit zwei Gretsch "Filter'Tron" Humbucker-Pickups sowie der typischen Gretsch-Klangverwaltung inklusive mechanischem Dämpfer und On-Off-Schalter.

Gretsch signed the busy musician back in 1954 - a stroke of luck for the traditional New York company. Similar to the Les Paul at Gibson, Atkins was not only the namesake. He also had a major influence on the design details in the development of these instruments, resulting in a number of country and rock 'n' roll guitar icons.

One such classic is this Nashville model from 1966, which has an eventful history behind it: When the previous owner acquired it in the late 1990s, the guitar had already been previously altered with non-original parts (pickups, tailpiece...). The new owner later had it completely restored by the renowned Munich luthier André Waldenmaier to its current original condition and then had it appraised by an editor of the magazine "Gitarre & Bass". An (anonymized) copy of the mail correspondence at the time, two "before/after" pictures and two issues of the magazine in which this guitar is mentioned are enclosed.
