Mi-take / Ki-take (身丈 / 着丈 – Body Length)
→ This is the total length of the kimono from the shoulder (or top seam) straight down to the hem (bottom). It basically tells you how long the kimono is. Ideally, it should match your height (or be a little shorter) when worn.
Sleeve to Sleeve Length (袖幅を含む着物の幅)
→ This is the total width from the end of one sleeve across the shoulders and back to the end of the other sleeve, when the kimono is laid flat. It's like a "wingspan" for the kimono.
Yuki (裄 – Middle Back to Wrist Width)
→ This measures from the middle of your back (at the base of your neck) across your shoulder and down to your wrist. It shows how long the sleeves + shoulder part are combined — important for how well the kimono fits across your arms and shoulders.
Sode-take (袖丈 – Sleeve Length)
→ This is the length of the sleeve itself, from the top edge where it attaches to the body of the kimono down to the bottom of the sleeve. Longer sode-take usually means a more formal or youthful kimono.
Bottom Length (裾丈 or 裾周り – Bottom Length or Hem Circumference)
→ This can refer either to the length from waist to hem (for how it falls over the legs) or sometimes the full circumference at the bottom edge. It’s important for how the kimono drapes and moves when walking.
