I offer here a very well preserved large at 48.5mm 1757 Battle of Prague victory medal issued in the name of Frederick the Great king of Prussia. Designed by Johann Holtzhey, the obverse side features the right facing bust of Frederick the Great with Latin inscription FRIDERICVS MAGN. D.G. REX BORVSS. EL. BRAND. DVX SILLES et. The reverse features the winged female personification of Victory, Lightning bolts from her right hand. and the Austrian Empress Maria Theresa kneeling at her feet. Her crown kicked off by Victory. Legend roughly translates to THE HAUGHTY QUEEN HUMBLED BY THE KING OF PRUSSIA.  I know of 4 varieties of this medal listed by Manfred Oding in his book of medals of Fredrick the Great. This one is his #604b I will list his 604a tomorrow. The most noticeable difference is the position of the lightning bolts. Both are quite scarce in this grade especially.

In 1754 war broke out between England and France in North America over the settlement of the Ohio river valley. It became known as the French and Indian war (1756-1763). Two years later it spread to Europe where it was called the 7 Years War.  Countries around the world became involved either with England or France and this medal was issued in support of England in that war. The news of Fredericks victory was received with great joy in England and his portrait adorned many shops and homes in England. A medal like this was eagerly collected in England and so I offer it here. In nearly uncirculated condition with just a trace of rub. Looks unc.  See the scans. U.S. shipping is $4. It will cost me more. PayPal preferred.
