In 1949, at the 1st MChZ, by special order of the Air Force, a wristwatch called "Shturmanskie" began to be produced. Later, this brand has established itself as the most reliable and accurate domestic chronograph. But since they were made by special order, they were not available for sale. They were awarded along with diplomas by graduates of military flight and navigational schools, they were issued to the flight personnel of aviation units. 

Moreover, initially in the Air Force there was even such a practice that by the decision of a special commission at the end of the pilot's service it was determined whether he deserved it or not to leave this watch for him. In 1961, the first ever manned space flight took place. In space flight, Yuri Gagarin took with him the Shturmanskie watch.
