The Blackstone Hotel became a legend in the 1920s, known as the top stop between San Francisco and Chicago. It stayed popular and successful through the 1970s. President John and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary at the Blackstone. And guess what? Richard Nixon even announced his presidential run from the rooftop ballroom in 1967! The Plush Horse was conceived and designed by Johns H. Hopkins as a decorative satire on the late Victorian style.
