War Time Jaques

1939 - during the Second World War Jaques’ craftsmen are recruited by MI9 to design and produce ‘escape and evasion kits’ by concealing tools etc within games to help Allied prisoners of war escape. Maps are hidden between the cardboard of Jaques Ludo or Snakes and Ladders boards; precious currency is secreted, tightly furled in the wooden handle of a cleverly split Jaques Lacing Awl, Even the pegs of Jaques' Deck Quoits are hollowed out so that a tiny working compass can be hidden in them.
