Vintage make up compact, marked "Germany US Zone". This compact was made just after World War II in Germany in a zone that was occupied by the US in order to establish the Federal Republic of Germany, 1945-1949. This compact belonged to my Great Aunt Leanor who was born in the 20's and never married but had a life of travel and adventure. The compact was definitely well used and loved, it does have quite a bit of scratches and wear, the (faux) gold finish is worn. The mirror is in pretty good shape, a couple of small spot and some light hazy lines.  The hinges are in great shape, with the push of the button the compact still springs open nicely and closes with a nice click. Please check the photos carefully for the condition. The compact measures 2.7" square.
