Beautiful 19th century rustic earthenware jar or jug, for storing meat and fat, from Southwest France.

Features a yellow ochre exterior glaze with a yellow interior glaze.

The bottom half of the exterior is unglazed as it was often buried in the ground to help preserve the meat.
