Description:  This is a Philadelphia & Reading Railway Company voucher for $81.00 in favor of H.W. Johns Mfg. Co. for March 1899.  Payable at the Farmers and Mechanics National Bank in Philadelphia. The H.W. Johns Mfg. Company was located at 21 N. 2nd Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The $81.00 voucher is for pipe and pipe covering rings.  Imprinted on the voucher, near the center, is the orange, 2 cent Documentary revenue stamp. Documentary taxes were reinstated in 1898 to assist in funding the Spanish American War.
