Oh, how beautiful and delicate is this antique white cotton gown!!! Dating from the late 19th century to early 20th century, around 1890–1910, this piece is a treasure of timeless craftsmanship!!! The high neckline is adorned with intricate lace details, and the front and back yoke feature exquisite whitework embroidery, likely hand-stitched with broderie anglaise techniques. The embroidery has lovely, raised patterns, scalloped edges, and such intricate detail—what a joy to behold!!!
This garment may have been worn as a nightgown, housedress, or chemise, embodying the modesty and elegance of the time. The long sleeves and soft cotton fabric make it as practical as it is beautiful, offering a glimpse into the everyday luxury of the past. It’s such a rare and special find!!! It would be amazing to wear or lovely too just hung on a hanger and adored ~
Not only do I feel so lucky to share this amazing piece of history, but it also supports eco-friendly practices by giving these wonderful antique textiles a new life!!!
