This is an original press photo. Teachers union president Albert Shanker, center, wearing glasses, is escorted by police as he enters Civil Jail in New York City today to begin serving a 15-day sentence for contempt of court. Shanker was charged in connection with a teachers strike which he led in New York City last Fall. Photo measures 10.5 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 12-20-1967.
