This is a portrait of a man who I think is identified on the back as Lea..... Schatz.  There are also the names of Mrs. J. Koch and "from Max darling."  The photographer was Bonnie J. Brown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  The name appears to be wearing a military uniform from a foreign country.  The picture dates to the 1880s.  He appears to be in his late 30s or early 40s so I do not know what war or military service he was in - perhaps the Spanish American War?  There is wear to the corners and a white mark on the photo that appears to be from the negative.
