This is a vintage antique sample of patented antique barbed wire. This sample features a Joseph F. Glidden patent, dated February 08, 1876.  This wire is called "Glidden's Four Point Barb on Flat Twisted Oval Line", by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 193-B).  This wire features a single heavy gauge flat oval line wire, which is twisted.     Barbs are two pointed made from a round barbing wire.  Barb is wrapped twice around the line wire. Wire sample shows minor pitting.  There are two barbs. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered.  There is light bending but no broken or missing barbing points.
