Cam Phaser Delete Lockout Aluminum Block Fit Ford 4.6L 5.4L 6.8L 3V F250 350 450

Ford 4.6, 5.4 3-Valve Cam Phaser Lockout Kit

This pair of cam phaser lockout blocks can be used to lock the factory cam phasers into the fully advanced position permanently. One kit includes two aluminum blocks, which is enough to do one Ford 4.6L or 5.4L 3V engine.

There are cheaper lockout blocks out there, but I have found the quality of these to be very good and they seem to fit nice and snug in the stock phasers. It's important that these blocks fit snug, and don't allow any movement of the phaser internally.

Note: This auction is for the two aluminum blocks only. The cam gear and bolts pictured are not included, and are only shown for reference.

What vehicles will this work on?

Ford 4.6L 3V V8 2005-2010 Mustang;
2006-2010 Explorer 5.4L 3V V8 ;
2004-2012 F-Series ;
2005-2010 Expedition;
2005-2012 Lincoln Navigator Ford 6.8L 3V V10 engines ;
2005-2012 F-Series 250-350-450;

Any Ford 4.6L or 5.4L 3-Valve engine. That includes most 04-10 Ford or Lincoln Trucks and Expeditions, 05-10 4.6L Mustangs, and perhaps others.

Does this delete the cam sensor?

No. The cam sensor and the cam phaser reluctor wheel are still functional, as the computer needs to know cam position for sequential fuel injection. Deleting VCT with a custom tune will eliminate the cam phaser control and diagnostics, but will not eliminate the cam sensor, reluctor wheel, or cam timing codes.

Pro Tip: The 5 long cam phaser reluctor teeth are easily bent if the phaser is dropped. Make sure you inspect them carefully to ensure they are straight, or you'll get cam timing codes you can't explain.

Pro Tip: Don't remove the one cam phaser cover plate bolt that holds the base of the clockspring, or the spring will go flying and you can be injured. Only loosen that one.

Pro Tip: Using a Wedge Tool will allow you to remove and replace the cam phasers without removing the timing cover. Just remove the valve covers instead.

Pro Tip: Do one phaser at a time. Install one aluminum block in each phaser. Install it into the slot that it fits the most snugly into.

Pro Tip: I can cut your tuning costs in half when you do this job more than once. Ask me how!

How do they work?

These cam phaser lockout blocks are inserted into the cam phaser, where they take up all the space in one of the five oil passages, preventing all movement of the cam phaser and locking it tightly in the fully advanced position. Unable to phase or move, the ticking or knocking noise is gone for good. And since there's nothing here to fail long term, the solution is permanent. This keeps your truck on the road and out of the repair shop. This can be especially beneficial on high mileage or fleet vehicles.

Easy Installation:
The lockouts are precision machined to fit in one section better than the rest. The lockout kit easily installs into the void that has the tightest fit. Push the lockout block down into the phaser and wiggle to set it as deep as possible to begin your work.

These permanent repair kits will change the phaser to a solid hub design and install a new tune into the vehicles computer to get it out of the 'limp' mode and return it to normal operations.

Package include:1 set of 2PCS cam phaser lock out kit
