  • ➥ The generation of protective antibodies upon infection requires the selection of high-affinity B cells in germinal centers.  In this issue, Gaya et al. (517-533) explored the mechanism by which B cells seed germinal center reactions and reported that the spatial positioning of NKT cells at the interfollicular areas of lymph nodes is critical for the induction of B cell immunity upon viral infection.  The cover image illustrates NKT cells delivering innate signals (IL-4) to activated B cells, a phenomenon required for the production of birus-specific antibodies.  Cover artwork by Remi Duval.
