1955 Press Photo Glamorous chandeliers hang over subway train in Moscow.

This is an original press photo. Leningrad, USSR...Here is one of the trains on the new Leningrad subway. It is loading under a long line of chandeliers. These glamorous lamps are presumably some of the things that caused an uproar over the lavishness of the new subway. A similar outcry over the Moscow subway cost one of the Soviet's chief architects his job. Photo measures 9.25 x 7inches. Photo is dated 11-26-1955.
