1961 Press Photo Sir Anthony Eden (Lord Avon) leaves St. James' Palace

This is an original press photo. Lord Avon, veteran British diplomat known as Sir Anthony Eden, strides from St. James' Palace in London today to take his seat in the House of Lords. Holding papers and following Eden is the Earl of Scarborough. It was Lord Avon's first visit at the House of Lords since his elevation to the peerage which was announced July 5. Lord Avon, as Anthony Eden, was British Prime Minister from April 1955 to January 1957. Photo measures 8 x 10 inches. Photo is dated 07-25-1961.
