Hello and Welcome to The Textile Trunk! ~ Please follow us on Instagram we are @textiletrunk

This lovely textile is an antique French quilt, dating from the very early 1800's ~ this wonderful textile is 100% hand stitched and hand quilted. There is a cotton batting between the layers ~ the burgundy Moon fabric is so wonderful ! I've never seen another like it ~ the central square is a woven striped cotton ~ the backing is a small gingham in burgundy also! There is about a 4 inch area near one of the corners where someone has opened the quilt out and you can see that there is an earlier quilt that was covered over by the outer fabric. The first quilt layer would be 18th century ~ It's so much fun to peek at that ! ~*~ There is a light cotton batting ~ a wonderful dense quilt, so so so beautiful ! ~

MEASUREMENTS : This lovely textile measures approx. 56 inches by approx. 68 inches

CONDITION : This quilt is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. I find it so difficult to keep up with all of the washing in the winter! ~ this quilt can be machine washed on gentle , spun and then tumbled dry ~ I don't recommend doing that very often, but the first time no problem ~ there are some mends, some small holes, the area where the side has been unstitched ~ there are some pale marks! Signs of time and use often inherent in these wonderful antiques! ~
