Installation steps:
1. Turn Off Water Supply: Locate the water valve behind the toilet and turn it clockwise to shut off the water supply.
2. Open Flushing Ball: Step on the flushing pedal to lift the flushing ball and keep it open. This allows any remaining water to drain out.
3. Remove Old Seal: Carefully grasp the underside of the old seal (gasket) and pull it out. It might require some force, but be gentle to avoid damaging the flush valve or surrounding components.
4. Clean the Area: Use a clean cloth or sponge to wipe away any debris, dirt, or remnants of the old seal from the edges and the bowl-shaped area where the gasket sits.
5. Close Flushing Ball: Release the flushing pedal so that the flushing ball closes and seals the valve.
6. Clean Flushing Ball: Wipe the flushing ball to remove any dirt or residue. This ensures a clean surface for the new seal to adhere to properly.
7. Install New Seal: While the flushing ball is closed, position the new seal over the opening and press it into place, ensuring it fits snugly against the edges.
8. Lubricate Washer Contact Area: Apply a lubricant (such as plumber’s grease) to the area where the washer will make contact with the flushing ball when it opens. This helps to create a better seal and reduces friction.
9. Test Washer Position: Open and close the flushing ball several times to check that the new seal is correctly positioned and moves smoothly. Press down on the washer to ensure it is seated correctly.
10. Turn On Water Supply: Once satisfied with the installation, turn the water supply back on by turning the valve counterclockwise.
11. Check for Leaks: Add water to the toilet bowl and check for any leaks around the new seal. If there are no leaks, your installation is complete.
