2013 Inverted Jenny Sc 4806 MNH full press sheet of 6 panes perforated Modern self-adhesive press sheets are produced with die-cut stamps mounted on a pressure-sensitive backing paper. When the sheet is tightly rolled for shipping, the paper and adhesive are placed under tension. Upon unrolling, the sheet may retain a slight curl from having been confined in a tube. If the sheet is unrolled abruptly or flattened immediately under force, some stamps may partially release or “pop” from the backing. This is not a defect in the printing or gum. It is simply the mechanical result of stored tension in the paper and adhesive layer. For best results: • Unroll the sheet slowly and gently. • Allow it to rest face up on a clean, flat surface. • Let the sheet relax naturally for several hours, or preferably overnight. • Do not attempt to press it flat immediately or apply weight to the sheet. Once the sheet has had time to relax, the backing and adhesive stabilize and the stamps will remain seated properly. American Philatelic Society dealer member |
