Based on the AMS reference design, this is a breakout board for the AS3935 digital lightning sensor. With a specially tuned antenna, SPI or I2C interfacing and a wide 2.4V to 5.5V standard operating range, this innovative sensor is designed to interface with most current development systems and boards. This includes all of the current Arduino modules! The breakout board features an inductor (antenna) specially designed for this application, and the board ships fully calibrated. This ensures that you don’t have to write a massive back-end to support low-level IC calibration just to get started - focus on your final application!

Detects both cloud-to-ground and cloud-to-cloud flashes
Estimates distance to lightning strikes between 1km and 40km in 14 steps
Embedded ‘man made’ disturbance rejection algorithm
Lightning detection thresholds are programmable (outdoor vs indoor, for example)
Wide supply voltage range: 2.4V – 5.5V
SPI and I2C operation supported by default, I2C address 0x03
Breakout board ships fully calibrated
