Louis Philippe II, Duke of Orleans, Count of Paris also known as Philippe Egalite [1747 1793] who on his grandfather's abdication in 1848, was proclaimed King of France as Louis Philippe II, but never resigned. He was a major French noble who actively supported the French Revolution, a strong advocate for the elimination of the present absolute monarchy, in favor of a constitutional monarchy. He voted for the death of Louis XVI but was himself executed by guillotined in 1793. Listed for auction is the autograph of Louis Phillipe II signed on a page. The page was removed from a letter, it contains five written lines on the verso and is signed ''Votre devoue Louis Philippe d' Orleans'' in black dip pen on the front. The page measures 4.75 x 2.75 inches and is in fine condition. The autograph is authentic, uncommon example of the French noble.
