Rotring celebrates 70 years of invention and innovation with this pen. 

Hand-tooled from a solid block of blue-lined celluloid, it is a modern interpretation of a classic. 

Medium (M) 18K two-tone gold nib. 

Outer box (worn), oval wooden display box, drawstring bag, booklet & matching certificate. Full set.

The pen appears to be unused and never been inked. Near mint condition.

A slince of history to write with

Today, in 1998, it is exactly seventy years since Wilhelm Riepe founded Tintenkuli Handels GmbH. 

It's an occasion that calls for a special pen: The Rotring 1928, which will be issued in a limited edition of 1928 items.

The Rotring 1928 builds on the typical silhouette of Riepe's legendary “Tinten-kuli" but unites it with modern technology. 

The classical tubular nib and fountain pen nib unit can be interchanged at will.

Celluloid, its material, was frequently used in the early days of our century and is especially well suited to fountain pens. 

Made from cellulose and camphor from recipes over a hundred years old, it is virtually unbreakable and is not harmful to hands.

The Rotring 1928 uses the classical , candy stripe" combination of colours. 

The nib is made of a combination of 18-carat gold and rhodium-plated ornamental features engraved by hand

The large spring-operated clip has a toggle design, making it comfortable to use and allowing protection of the pocket. 

The tube reservoir, clip and decorative cap rings are gold plated. 

With its highly reliable plunger refilling mechanism, the Rotring 1928 will satisfy the most discerning user.

The ink reservoir of the Rotring 1928 can be conveniently refilled with a reliable plunger mechanism:

Unscrew the barrel stopper above the red ring. Pull plunger lever until you feel resistance.

Insert nib or tube into ink bottle to front end of grip. 

Return plunger lever slowly and evenly to the original position.

After about five seconds, remove pen from ink bottle.

This is the time required to completely refill the Rotring 1928.

Retighten barrel stopper. Immediately wipe off any excess ink from the grip, nib and capillary, preferably with

cotton cloth or paper handkerchief.

Changing the Rotring 1928 writing unit is just as easy:

Empty any ink from the rotring 1928 by unscrewing the barrel stopper above the red ring. 

Hold the pen over ink bottle and pull out plunger lever until you feel resistance. Return lever to its original position.

Clean the front unit by rinsing it three times with water. Dry thoroughly afterwards.

Exchange the writing unit by unscrewing the entire front assembly with grip from barrel. Remove any excess water and remaining ink from screw threads. Screw on alternative writing unit and refill pen with ink.
