The first Moscow watch factory (1 MCHZ, the First state watch factory (1 MCHZ)) was founded in 1930.
Previously, the watch industry of the Soviet Union included a number of small workshops, united in the Trust of Precision Mechanics. However, the state’s needs for high-quality and modern watches of its own production were constantly growing, therefore in 1927 the Council of Labor and Defense adopted a resolution “On the organization of watch production in the USSR”. The purpose of the resolution was to establish the production of watches for the needs of the People's Commissariat of Railways and the Red Army. Equipment for the organization of production was purchased in the United States. The watch factory"Dueber Hampden"with a productivity of 200-250 thousand hours per year was purchased on a turnkey basis and became the basis for the creation of the 1st watch factory.
In 1930, a new watch factory was built on the territory of the former Krasnaya Zvezda tobacco factory, and American equipment was imported and installed. In 1935, he was named after S. M. Kirov. In the same year, the production of watches with a stopwatch, automotive mechanical and electro-winding watches, marine chronometers and deck watches began. In 1939, a complete technical re-equipment of the enterprise was completed. In 1940, the watch of production of the 1st State Defense Force became a regular item of officers of the Red Army. From 1930 to 1940, the plant produced 2.7 million pocket and wrist watches.
At the beginning of World War II, the plant was evacuated to the city of Zlatoust. He resumed work in Moscow in 1942 and produced products for the front. In 1946-1961 produced watches of the “Victory” brand. According to legend, the name, design and characteristics of these watches were personally approved by I.V. Stalin.
