This original Batik artwork comes from Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. It was done by one of the artists who sell their work in the Slipway area of the city.
This piece is not mounted and measures 21" x 28" in its original state - PHOTO is the item you will receive.
Batiks are produced by brushing hot liquid wax onto a piece
of cotton cloth in the desired pattern. The canvas is then dipped into a dye
which adheres to all the areas that are not covered by the wax. The wax is then
removed and reapplied repeated for each color used. This tedious and time-consuming
process can produce exceptional artwork. Animals, village scenes, landscapes and
abstracts compose much of the subject matter with colours that are natural and
brilliant!
