This lot consists of a Bobby Hull autographed Fred Oakley painting of the Mar '62 "battle of the giants" between Chicago's Bobby Hull and Montreal's Bernard "Boom Boom" Geoffrion, the first time two fifty-goal scorers opposed each other. The autograph is beautifully signed in black sharpie. Prudential prints were the annual giveaways to clients of Prudential Insurance agents since the late fifties, and to re-introduce the earlier ones, they were all reprinted on new acid-free stock for the 1973 dinner event, which celebrated the Canadian victory in the Sept '72 Can/Russia Summit Series. (Prior to this they had been printed on a linen stock which was prone to toning, and they were for the most part slightly larger than the new standardized size of just over 12.5"x16.5"). We had Bobby sign a couple at our London, Ontario card show on Superbowl Sunday in 1986, that's how long we have had this tucked away... Condition is mint, and the scan is duller due to flash glare. Tracked SHIPPING to Canada and the USA is $10. |
