Instant Ions is an Ionizer in a bottle.  Instant Ions contains concentrated copper alloy minerals which kill bacteria and algae in your pool.  Instant Ions is added every few weeks to your water as needed to maintain .3 ppm of copper.  The copper level should be tested with a copper test kit.  An 8 oz bottle will last 1 to 2 years in a spa, as only a small amount is added every few weeks.  To maintain clean, clear water all you need to do is maintain a low .2 ppm of chlorine, or .4 ppm of bromine.  This is only 1/10th the normal level required!  So, stop swimming and bathing in harsh expensive chemicals and enjoy the spring like water of an ionized pool or spa with Instant Ions.

You should not use a cartridge ionizer.  They are very expensive, have to be replaced every few months, and you have very little or no control on the amount of ionization being produced.  Most are sold without a test kit so you never know what the ion level is and if it is safe to reduce the sanitizer level. For spas and small pools where you do not want to invest in an electronic ionizer then Instant Ions is the best method of ionization.  The best method of ionizing a pool and the lowest cost over time is with an electronic ionizer.  The Nature 2 pool cartridge is very expensive and only lasts about 4 months.  A quart of Instant Ions costs much less and will last more than a year, and only needs to be tested and added every few weeks.
