Broad-leaved peppermint is a small tree native to temperate dry sclerophyll woodlands and forests of south-eastern Australia. The leaves have also been used as a flavouring in Australia since colonial times, especially in combination with a brewed black 'Billy tea' Peppermint Gum is one of six very important Eucalyptus species used by indigenous peoples as a traditional bushfood spice. Other species include Strawberry Gum, Lemon Ironwood, Billy tea gum and Cider Gum, which taste exactly like they sound! Peppermint Gum is a perfect addition for the bush food garden.
