Our gadolinium wire is extruded and multiple quantities will ship as a longer rod up to 1 meter in length. Quantity 1 corresponds to 10 cm (4 inches). Each rod measures 100mm long (3.95 inches) and is 2mm in diameter. It weighs ~ 2.5 grams. They are strongly ferromagnetic when cold and less magnetic when above 20C.

Can be used for experiments with magnetic cooling, the skinny long rod shape makes it a lot more convenient than a chunk of raw metal to experiment with placing it into and removing it from magnetic fields.

The wire can be bent but will fracture if bent too far. Allows you to bend your gadolinium into your desired shape without much effort.
