Brecciated mookaite is also known as brecciated radiolarite and a form of Australian jasper. Jasper is a quartz that's opaque in appearance and can vary in density. Many times this quartz is impure which can give the overall quality a wide range of value. This is due to the abundance of iron oxides in and around the mookaite. These materials give the stone a different look on opacity as well as patterns. The mookaite can come in various colorations, from dark red to brownish red, and can often have gray or silver highlights.
